Our Story

In 2008, the Landeros family opened Milpa Kitchen & Cantina to share their authentic Mexican recipes with the people of North Texas. Years later, Edgar Landeros decided to pursue a healthier lifestyle by going vegan, and soon his parents followed suit. As they reaped the benefits of a vegan diet, they had to wonder – could they turn their family recipes, handed down for generations, into delicious vegan dishes?

The answer was a resounding yes. Through trial and error and many taste tests, they developed a flavorful and innovative vegan section on the Milpa menu. Milpa’s vegan options allowed new people to experience the Landeros cuisine, and even non-vegans were impressed. This led to the next question – what about a Mexican restaurant that is 100% vegan?

Thus Pepitas Vegan Taqueria was born. Pepitas offers hearty and high-quality Mexican food that is fully vegan. That’s right – every single item on the menu is completely vegan – and of course, completely delicious.
